Even though the recent ban on mobile billboards (the signs that sit on wheels in streets) went into effect on Jan 1, businesses are still finding various ways to get around the law. The LABJ reports that Bruce Boyer, head of Lone Star Security & Video in Reseda, is "taking the wheels off and replacing them with runners, converting them into sleighs," so the offensive signs are no longer technically mobile billboards. Boyer also makes an appearance in the Daily News: "'They are now sleighs - like Santa's - and are not legally mobile billboards,' said Bruce Boyer, owner of Lone Star Security, who also removed the axles."
