Go, Butterflies!

Some good news in the insect world to pass on via The Argonaut: "The endangered El Segundo Blue butterfly appears to be flourishing in its 200-acre habitat near Los Angeles International Airport, according to airport officials." The butterfly counters recently counted roughly 116,000 butterflies-- one point, there were fewer than 500 El Segundo Blue butterflies, prompting it to become the "first insect to be listed as a federal endangered species" back in the 1970s, according to experts. Must be all those jet engine fumes that are improving their stamina. (Blue butterfly pictured) [Argonaut]
