The Board of Supervisors moved forward a controversial plan for Houston-based developer Dinerstein Cos's 196-unit apartment complex, reports the Daily Breeze. "A group of nearby residents, including those within the city of Los Angeles, expressed opposition to the so-called Millennium-Playa Del Mar complex. They objected to the maximum height of 51 feet and the total number of units planned, despite the company's move to cut the number back." But other local businesses supported the plan. The site was somewhat an issue: "The site houses City of Angels Church of Religious Science - founded by late R&B singer O.C. Smith - but the church no longer holds Sunday services in its sanctuary off Grosvenor Boulevard." [Breeze]
