JH Snyder Wants to Bring Sound Stages to North Hollywood

New, 3 comments

Back in 2008, J.H. Snyder Co's plans for the East Valley included a $333 million project known as Valley Plaza. A restoration of an existing plaza at Laurel Canyon and Victory boulevards, the project was supposed to be anchored by a Macy's department store, a Target and a theater, according to an older Los Angeles Times story. But with the economy delayed the construction of a large retail project, the developer, who is also behind the proposed NoHo Commons development, is tweaking its plans for the area, one that would bring "eight to ten sound stages with a separate commissary and office space," according to the San Fernando Valley Business Journal. A rep for Snyder also says that the movie stages would be "the economic driver for the site." At least one member of the Laurel Grove Neighborhood Association sounds a tad disappointed with this new plan; "the association’s suggestion to Snyder was to place the studios in the back portion of the lot, and then a retail development can be positioned along Laurel Canyon and Victory Boulevards."
