War on Dirty Trucks Escalates

The Port of Long Beach has already reduced pollution from cargo trucks by approximately 80 percent (and Port of LA by about 70 percent), and now the city hopes to go further, reports the Long Beach Post. On Monday, the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners voted to expand their Clean Trucks Program to include smaller trucks. The harbor commission also approved a new fee for truckers if they're observed switching their containers from a clean vehicle to a dirty one. [LB Post]
