[Plywood for Sweet Lady Jane the Sequel in Santa Monica]

SANTA MONICA: Westsiders rejoice--Sweet Lady Jane, the long-running city bakery, is opening up an outpost on Montana in Santa Monica. Expect a larger retail space, big window displays of luscious cake, al fresco sugar highs, and a Thanksgiving opening.

MID-CITY: The area around Jefferson Boulevard near the Expo Line may be in for some big changes with the light-rail opens next year, but the Normandie cafe on Cochran Avenue is ahead of the curve. Eater checks in with their inexpensive but tasty pastries.

WEST HOLLYWOOD: WeHo may just be too waistline-obsessed to be able to support two rib restaurants: Zeke's (on Santa Monica Boulevard near Target) has closed, not long after Baby Blues opened up a little way west.

DOWNTOWN: Signs are up for Two Bits Market, an upscale fresh produce/deli on the floor of the Alexandria building on 5th, just west of Spring. Opening TBD.
