Bridge Shuffle

New, 2 comments

Instead of demolishing and rebuilding the Mulholland Bridge over the 405 Freeway (as is being done with the Sunset Bridge and soon with the Skirball Bridge), Caltrans and Metro are considering building a whole new bridge just south of the existing one, according to County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky's website: "Coming from the west, drivers would enter the new bridge in the same place they do now, then angle slightly south across the freeway before ending up on Skirball Center Drive. Only after the new span was completed would the old one come down, thus reducing traffic-related inconvenience during construction." [Zev Yaroslavsky, image via]
