Emperor May Invade Downtown's Pershing Square

Yes, he may be a conqueror, but Cyrus the Great was allegedly of the nicer variety. So, the city is considering honoring his 2,600-year legacy as leader of a Middle Eastern dynasty with a statue in the downtown concrete slab known as Pershing Square (which is named for a World War I general). Blogdowntown reports that the city council voted on Tuesday to move forward on an offer by downtown property owner Ezat Delijani to pay for and maintain a statue of Cyrus. But some commenters on the blog want Delijani to fix up those Broadway theaters first.
