Last month, Santa Monica officials reported that bike accidents involving vehicles were up 78 percent from 2007, and now the city has been ranked third in a state-wide study in regards to bike collisions in 2008, reports the Santa Monica Daily Press. Worse: The city was ranked first in terms of pedestrian involved bike collisions. Some note tourists and daytime employees "inflate" the collision numbers, though officials are saying more needs to be done in terms of city planning and education. Or stick to roller-blading, SM.
