"A judge today issued a temporary restraining order preventing any new elephants at the Los Angeles Zoo until a hearing is held next month," reports the LA Daily News. The zoo's new elephant exhibit is set to open in December and the plaintiff's attorney says in court papers "that he has heard zoo officials plan to bring in up to four elephants just before the trial begins" on November 2. A zoo spokesman tells the paper that new buddies for Billy are scheduled to arrive by the exhibit opening, but there's no word on when or how many. [LADN]
