Tomorrow, Ranchos Palos Verdes' Terranea Resort will hold a reunion for Marineland, the aquatic theme park it replaced. Marineland opened in 1954 and "once held the largest collection of marine life in the United States," reports the Daily Breeze. Sea World's owner bought it in 1986 and, contrary to promises, shut it down in 1987, stealing away famed killer whales Corky and Orky to his San Diego park, before selling the site to the Terranea developers.
