It looked like Chewbacca paid a visit to the bathroom in this Mt. Washington listing that was recently posted, and now the home provides some material for Meghan Daum's LAT column today, a piece called "Housing Market Still Hairy." Writing about how real estate listing photos now show the "gritty realism" of today's market, Daum tracks down Kaili Richards, listing agent for the home. And one learns: That brown mess is no fur ball! Richard tells Daum the toilet is actually full of tree roots. "Richards explained that she'd included the photo because she wanted people to understand how much work needed to be done on the house. She hadn't realized how much the roots, which were growing through the plumbing into the toilet, looked like hair."
