There will be no little Manchurian Candidates in Hacienda Heights. Three months after the issue made the Daily Show, Hacienda La Puente Unified officials announced last week that the district would not be taking $30,000 from the Chinese Language Council International to fund a Chinese language and culture program (it will continue to run its existing Chinese language and culture program). Via the SGVT: "Opponents for months aggressively sought to persuade the district to cut ties with with Hanban because of concerns that it would brainwash kids with Communist ideals." [SGVT]
