The LA Daily News reports that a fire in Benedict Canyon this morning did about $950,000 worth of damage to a mansion once owned by Vegas pioneer/billionaire Kirk Kerkorian. No one was hurt. The entire former Kerkorian compound is about 30 acres and includes two tennis courts, two pools, a putting green, and three houses, but from reports it was only the six bedroom, 8,402 square foot main house that was damaged in the fire.

That house and 11 acres on the estate were once owned by Sylvester Stallone, who according to Big Time Listings "bought the house and land from Kerkorian for $5.7 million in 1990 and then sold it back to the financer in 1997 for $5.2 million." (Sonny Bono also once bought and sold part of the estate.) Also according to BTL, Kerkorian changed the property's address from Wanda Park Drive to Oak Pass Road to slip it into the Beverly Hills Post Office. He chopped his asking price from $25 million to $18 million back in 2007 and no longer owns the now-charred-and-soggy compound. The house has been used and abused before--the Bad Girls Club shot its third season there.
