The Port of Los Angeles is going full speed ahead with an effort to nab the decommissioned battleship USS Iowa so that it can set it up in the port as a floating museum. A group called the Pacific Battleship Center proposed the plan and says it'll fund the project. According to good friend Wikipedia, "During World War II, Iowa served as a presidential shuttle in the Atlantic Fleet, moving President Roosevelt to and from the Tehran conference," and also served in the Pacific Fleet and during the Korean War.
