Metro's Primary Resources blog declares today "the 50th anniversary of "Metro" "Rail" in Los Angeles County!" On August 26, 1960, the MTA released a report that contained the first ever reference to a Metro in Los Angeles: "This system would be the first use of rubber-tired rapid transit vehicles in the United States and would be truly unique in its ability to provide large numbers of transit patrons a fast, comfortable, quet and convenient ride."
