City Makes It Official With Koreatown and Little Bangladesh

New, 25 comments

Mazel tov to Koreatown and new neighborhood Little Bangladesh--the city council voted to officially designate the two on Friday. Koreatown is now the area bounded by Olympic, Western, Third, and Vermont, plus a stretch of Western up to Rosewood Avenue. Little Bangladesh is a stretch of Third between Alexandria and New Hampshire. The Koreatowner who submitted the designation application had originally asked for a much bigger area, reaching up and out to Melrose and Crenshaw at points. The original Little Bangladesh application asked for an area bounded by Wilshire, Western, Third, and Vermont. The big overlap there caused some squabbles, but by all accounts everyone was happy with Friday's decision.
