Long Beach Gets Port-Themed Art While It Waits For Its Skyscraper

New, 2 comments

Long Beach's 35 story Shoreline Gateway condo/retail project was approved back in 2007, but the city's Redevelopment Agency website says only that construction drawings are being prepared. In the meantime, why not get some art in there? According to the LBPost, a new Greenmeme project "will be used as a temporary placeholder" for the site...while the development goes through planning." Urban Lab: Chantilly Clad is made up of 30,000 feet of woven boat rope supported by a crane over a stage of reclaimed lumber. The piece debuts Friday, and LAist reports that a dedication will be followed by a free lace-making workshop.
