Silver Lake Baby Park, Inquiry on La Brea's Continental Graphics

New, 38 comments

SILVER LAKE: A ribbon-cutting ceremony is taking place Saturday at 11 a.m. for Silver Lake's 2,000 square foot Parkman Triangle, a drought-resistant "urban lounge" that residents helped construct thanks to a $10,000 grant from the city office of beautification (yes, it exists!), and money from Councilman Eric Garcetti and the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council. The hope is that walkers hang out there for a bit and that the spot helps "to slow down the traffic" and "replace the prevalent concrete with some shade-providing trees," according to the press release. LOS ANGELES: From a reader: "Did you spot the empty Continental Graphics bldg on La Brea @ 1st St? Any news as to the demise or future for the site?" Way back in the good ole days of 2006, a tipster believed the approximately two acre site would be torn down and replaced with "118 condos, 29,000 sf of retail, and 402 parking spaces called 'District La Brea.'"
