It turns out that while that now-famous Alhambra Arc was inspired by the Arc de Triomphe, it was modeled after another structure, according to the Whittier Daily News, as the "designers deferred to the Alhambra, the castle built by the Moors during their occupation of Spain. The archway is a replica of one of the gates of the castle.." [WDN]
