The latest May numbers from Case-Shiller, an index of home prices, show California saw a spike in prices, which, according to the Dallas News may be attributed to the fact that prices had fallen so far. "San Francisco home prices rose by more than 18 percent in May from a year earlier. And prices were up 12.4 percent in San Diego and 9.7 percent in the Los Angeles area." Overall, there was 4.6 percent average price nationwide, an uptick experts don't believe is indicative of a "sustained recovery." [Dallas News]
