Via the Long Beach Post, Brian Ulaszewski argues that two portions of highway that cut through LB, the section of the 710 that becomes Shoreline Drive and the Terminal Island Freeway (the 103), should be ripped up. Ulaszewski writes that Shoreline Drive doesn't have enough traffic to justify its existence, and would be better served as green space. Likewise, a one-mile section of underused 103 could yield "nearly three dozen acres of park space along the western edge of the city." [LB Post]
