Sneakers and a card left in front of the mural on Sunset Boulevard
RIP Silver Lake walking man! As NBC4 reported last night, 58-year-old Marc Abrams was found dead in a hot tub in Silver Lake last night. This morning, a pair of sneakers and some flowers were spotted in front of a Sunset Boulevard mural of Abrams. Nicky Gagliarducci, artist who painted the mural last summer---the piece also depicts lost Los Angeles landmarks like Schwab's Pharmacy and the Brown Derby---was also there today, cleaning the wall. "He was like a ghost in the same way the city feels like a ghost," said Gagliarducci, of Abrams. "He seemed to always be there. You'd turn the corner, and be 'like, woah, didn't I just see you down the block." Of the "city as a ghost" reference, Gagliarducci explained more: "A lot of what was [there] isn't there any longer."
