Way back in 2008, there was a lot of buzz when Michel Attias, representative for New York-based developer Chetrit, said a new boutique hotel--to be called Clark Hotel--was planned for the old Eli P. Clark Hotel space at 426 S. Hill Street. Nothing ever went forward on the project, but today, a reader forwards a photo of work being done on the neon sign. Recently filed Building Dept permits reference numerous planned improvements to the building. Is Clark Hotel going forward? Then again, this is Chetrit, which has a habit of tinkering with its properties, but not going forward.
