While noted futurist Roland Emmerich predicts a total infrastructural and geological collapse in 2012, other experts believe that Los Angeles will persist for at least another 20 years. Among them are cityLAB, Michael Maltzan Architecture, and Gensler, who have, at Newsweek's request, put together their ideas for the Los Angeles of 2030, all part of an interactive feature called “Architecture Firms Re-Imagine Our Future Cities." CityLAB wants us all to kick back and have a pool party, Michael Maltzan is going to make it easier for us to work everywhere, all the time, and Gensler believes that in the future we'll have Segways on demand.
