Like it or not, the refurbishment of Echo Park lake is coming--the 13-acre waterhole will be drained and off-limits for two years. Avian-lovers were upset because the draining would not be good for migratory birds fond of the lake, but the Eastsider LA reports that city engineers agreed to set up "four temporary pools (that) will be maintained during the construction period 'to provide a water source for migratory birds.'"
