The amount of parkland in Orange County will increase twofold following a 20,000-acre gift---roughly the size of five Griffith Parks--from landowner Irvine Co. yesterday. A new park will be created, called Black Star Canyon Wilderness Park, on a fraction of the site, according to the OC Register.. The Los Angeles Times notes that environmentalists are supportive of the plan to transfer the land, which'll continue to be managed by a non-profit. [OC Register/LA Times]
