LA's limited car-sharing options increased slightly this month with the birth of a new five-car service, reports the Green LA Girl blog. LAXCarShare launched with three cars in downtown, one each in Santa Monica and Venice, and plans to add three more vehicles, one likely near the Hollywood/Western subway stop. Melissa Hebert, the founder of LAXCarShare, used to be with FlexCar--that company was bought by ZipCar in 2007. LAXCarShare will charge about *$25 through labor day to get started, and then $7 per hour or $60 per day. [Green LA Girl via The Source]
