A.F. Gilmore Goes For a Mid-Century Look on Fairfax

New, 48 comments

Earlier this year, local developer A.F. Gilmore, owner of the Farmers Market, announced plans for a nearby project--a one-story retail building with an adjoining restaurant at the corner of 3rd and Fairfax, the longtime site of a parking lot and plant nursery. Behold renderings for the building, which is being designed by Pasadena-based firm McKently Malak. The developer tells us that while the overall mid-century design likely won't change, tweaks to details of the building are continuing. Additionally, the "name signs" are only place holders aka poetic license. So far, coverage by the Larchmont Chronicle has shown the neighborhood supportive of the building, one of two new developments (including the controversial Casden project across the street from the Grove) proposed for the area.
