Dutch architecture firm NL has submitted their proposal for a big job: connecting mainland China to Hong Kong with a 22-mile long bridge (for comparison, the Golden Gate is 1.7 miles). The length is one thing--artificial islands break up the span--there's the issue of China driving on the right and HK driving left. DesignBoom reports that NL hopes to solve that problem with their "Pearl River Necklace," where the two bridge directions cross over each other while still over the water. [DesignBoom]
