Hawthorne Tries to Make it Easier for Developers

The Daily Breeze reports that the Hawthorne City Council is dropping development impact fees after developers had complained the city's fees were higher than surrounding areas. And the drop is significant. Via the paper: "Development impact fees are designed to offset costs tied to new developments, including police services, park improvements and traffic infrastructure. The new rates will reduce impact fees for commercial developments from $17,868 per 1,000 square feet to between $3,138 and $3,868 per 1,000 square feet. Multifamily residential development fees will go from $6,344 to $3,617 per 1,000 square feet."
