New York magazine has a brief look at the competition between the Los Angeles and New York Philharmonics, a story that pits Gustavo Dudamel against Alan Gilbert. Amazing, the piece manages to avoid perpetuating the same old LA stereotypes. But NYC still wins, of course. "Sometimes it takes L.A.’s anxious ambitions to prod New York to be superb." [NY Mag]
