A proposed rendering of the most extreme version of the plans.
Things got pretty heated in Calabasas over Swim Center West, a water park proposed for De Anza Park that could have included a pool, locker rooms, concessions, a spray ground, a lazy river, and/or a water slide. Four modules that could be built separately, together, or in phases, were proposed. After hearing from almost 50 speakers at a meeting last week, the City Council nixed the whole thing, reports the Acorn. Opponents feared it would mar the park (a councilmember previously said a generic conceptual design looked "like a Las Vegas hotel"). Instead the Council has decided to look into the possibility of building just a pool somewhere on the westside of the city.
