Here's a listing straight out of a picture postard — the Brockman Clock Tower Estate. Per the property's website, the century-old residence in northwest Glendale was built by mining magnate John Brockman (our favorite in-bankruptcy building 7th Street was also named for Brockman). Modeled after a villa in Brockman's native Germany, the 7,500-square-foot home contains six bedrooms, six baths, four fireplaces, an enclosed sleeping porch, plus formal living, dining, and breakfast rooms, while the four-story tower, listed as #26 in Glendale's historic register, features two separate living quarters on three floors. According to the Silver Lake News's Treasures of Los Angeles Architecturepage, the estate was last up for sale in 2006 with a price tag of $4.2 million. Four years later, the sellers look set to ring in a bidding war with today's list price of $1.495 million.---Pauline O'Connor
