Plants Want In On Sand Dune Park

As if Manhattan Beach's Sand Dune Park didn't have enough people fighting over it, a rare plant species that only grows on sand dunes has been found at the park. According to the Daily Breeze the discovery of the Orcutt's yellow pincushion "will alter plans to deal with dune erosion caused by high volumes of foot traffic...[Manhattan Beach Public Works Director Jim Arndt] said the city will use imported fill to shore up the dune and also erect a protective fence along the ridge line."
