Maybe there's hope for LA. Last Friday, the New York Times chronicled the almost finished construction of New Delhi's 118-mile long, $6.5 billion metro system, which is touted as immaculate and punctual. The surprise here is that most of India's cities are something of a disaster since the nation invested in villages for so long--New Delhi's trains are a symbol of that one city climbing out of dysfunction. A singular management style is evident: transit execs are given copies of the Bhagavad-Gita for motivation. [NY Times]
