MacArthur Park Apartment Project Will Also Clean Up the Streets

New, 46 comments

First, MacArthur Park got that new soccer field, and then there was a grant to rehab the Westlake Theater--news which was accompanied by a crazy rendering--and now new housing is coming to the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street. The Source has more, reporting Monday wil see the ground-breaking for the MacArthur Park Metro Apartments, $45 million joint venture between Metro, and the Los Angeles Housing Partnership, among others. The first phase of the project, which'll consist of 172 affordable housing units and 30,000 plus square feet of retail, will bring 90 affordable units and retail. More via the Source: "The project will also bring improvements around the subway station and nearby streets. New sidewalks, curbs and gutters, street trees and underground utilities are planned. The public plaza and subway portal will also be upgraded with special attention given to the Westlake Avenue side of the parcel which is home to many bus stops."
