The Santa Monica Mirror reports that demo work is underway on the 1947 Sears automotive building at 4th Street and Colorado, site of the future Expo Line II rail station (no lawsuit can apparently stop this demo). The Santa Monica Daily Press also covered the story, reporting that because the building is "more than 40 years old, the Landmarks Commission had to sign off on its demolition. Though it was listed on the Historic Resources Inventory, it was not deemed a landmark. "There was nothing significant about it. It was just old," said Nina Fresco, a Landmarks Commissioner."
