Beverly Boulevard Near Larchmont Now Smooth as Buttah

Beverly Boulevard from Rossmore to Western on Beverly has finished its great repaving project. Both you and your car will be stunned. The whole experience is so pleasurable as to be a little jarring--we're just not used to being spoiled like this. The Larchmont Chronicle has an open letter from City Councilman Tom LaBonge, talking about this project and other upcoming repavings. "Wilton Place between Third St. and Wilshire Blvd. is on the schedule for re-paving soon, as is Third St. between Hauser and Fairfax Ave.

The re-paving of Wilshire Blvd. between Western and Fairfax Ave. should begin next spring. The complex funding formula for this project gives a clear picture of why it’s so hard for the city to accomplish what seems to be basic maintenance....

We have applied for grants through two different federal funding programs to re-surface Wilshire Blvd., and were granted stimulus funds to re-pave the center lanes of the street. For the curb lanes, however, we applied for funding through a separate program that required that the re-paving be tied to a transit project."
