Lawndale's Environmental Charter High School is one of six finalists up for internet voting through tomorrow in the White House's Commencement Challenge--the prize is a commencement address by the president, who'll choose the winner from the top three public vote-getters. (page 4) ECHS's application essay says, "We’re blocks from the world’s most congested freeway, yet we step onto campus with fruit trees and a running stream of reclaimed water, which was once asphalt, and we know we’re in an environment designed to envision a better life."
