Two members of Friends of the LA River's board of directors think the five designs suggested to replace the famous but ailing Sixth Street Bridge are all a big drag: "None of the designs has drawn much enthusiasm from the Bureau of Engineering's neighborhood advisory committee, from the American Institute of Architects or from the Los Angeles Conservancy." They suggest an international design competition and a design to "enhance the value of the neighborhoods at both ends of the bridge and encourage vibrant riverfront communities on both banks." [LAT]
