Metro's blog The Source provides an early look at the latest round of community meetings for the Purple Line extension, which begin tonight at LACMA. Steve Hymon writes that these meetings, the penultimate batch before the environmental impact report is released this summer, will provide new numbers on boardings at each station. The numbers are kind of surprising--the contested Crenshaw station would have more projected boardings than La Brea, while Westwood would have double that of Century City (guess you're not gonna get people like Candy Spelling on the Metro). These numbers are based on a VA hospital stop, which Metro is pushing for because they think having as stop west of the 405 will encourage Westside riders to hop on. Also of note, a Century City stop on Constellation, and thus in the heart of CC, would attract more riders than a station on Santa Monica Boulevard.
