Boats are apparently a little like director Kevin Smith--too big for their seats. They've grown over the past fifty years and now the county wants to make the slips at Marina Del Rey bigger to accommodate their girth: "The county wants to reduce the number of boat slips by 476, from 4,731 to 4,255. If approved, it would mean a 23% drop in the number of boat slips at the marina since 1999." That comes on top of other development plans for the area, including a 19-story hotel. [LAT]
