West Hollywood's House of Blues Project Returns

New, 14 comments

Can West Hollywood stand any more hotels? Well, they will have to. Last week, Kanner Architects' LED-glowing House of Blues project, a development that'll offer 149 hotel rooms; 35,000 square feet of commercial-restaurant space---including a new 6,200-square-foot live music venue--;40 condos; 5 affordable units, and 22 affordable units off site at 990 Palm, went before the West Hollywood's Planning Commission. The commission essentially OK'd the approval but asked staff to bring it back on May 20 to make it official. This latest project--by Combined Properties'--is just one of many hotels slated for the neighborhood, although this one has the distinction of being covered in a giant moving video screen that wraps around the top and sides of the building.
