Brit artist D*Face made these decaying Oscar statuettes that were planted on top of Runyon Canyon and in the parking lot of the Mel's at Hollywood and Highland early yesterday, just a few days ahead of Sunday's Oscars. The painted resin sculptures have plaques next to them reading "Beauty is one snip away" (at Runyon) and "Beauty is skin deep," (at Mel's). According to TheWrap, "Aside from the inscriptions, there was no agenda or special meaning behind them...and there was certainly no malicious intent, either." Ok, if you say so, British guy.
