Surgery has begun at 6317 Wilshire Boulevard, an old medical building in the mid-Wilshire area that's being transformed into a boutique hotel. News broke in late 2008 that a Killefer Flammang-designed 74-room boutique hotel was coming. Today, a rep for developer OSM Investment tells us that "soft demo" work started in early January, a term which basically means that the interiors are being removed. An adaptive re-use, the hotel should be finished around early 2011. Yes, the billboard stays with the building, and a rooftop pool is planned. Additionally, we're told that the building is aiming for silver LEED certification. More news on this one as it comes in.
