London to Beijing Via High-Speed Rail

New, 18 comments

As California's proposed high-speed rail limps forward, China's massive network is being fed steroids. The Telegraph reports that the latest push is to connect China to other Asian nations like India and Vietnam, and before decade's end, Europe. Trains are planned to connect China to Russia, Germany, and the UK—a trip from Beijing to London would only take two days. "We have also already carried out the prospecting and survey work for the European network, and Central and Eastern European countries are keen for us to start," a senior consultant on China's domestic high-speed rail project told the newspaper.
