Villaraigosa Pitches Washington

Hoping to get support for his 30/10 plan, the mayor made a case yesterday before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee for a federal loan to help fund numerous LA rail and bus projects. KPCC reports that the meeting was set up by Senator Barbara Boxer, who supports the plan. Regardless, the mayor wants $40 billion from the feds, but "federal transportation under-secretary Roy Kienitz testified that several existing federal programs could help, but not to the tune of 40-billion dollars."
