Work is finishing up on the handsome-looking nine-unit Yamaguchi project in Little Osaka on Sawtelle and Mississippi. Justin Tran of Dembo (developer is JMAR), which is leasing out the units and the retail, said he's hoping for move-ins to happen in the next few months (there's no web site yet). He's currently showing the two-level lofts, which start at $2,800 (eight of them being 1,200 square feet, and one substantially bigger unit with room for three bedrooms). Below the apartments is 8,000 square feet of space for retail in a neighborhood already brimming with noodle shops, bars, boutiques, and Japanese markets. For downtown and Santa Monica commuters, an Expo Line stop should be a half-mile away at Sepulveda and Exposition by 2015.
