Hard to Move Rodney Walker Home in Silver Lake*

New, 34 comments

This Rodney Walker-designed home, which has been off and on the market for the better part of the last decade, has gotten a lot of ink, but had less success finding an actual buyer. In 2008, the Architect's Newspaper profiled George Mimnaugh's restoration of the 1953 home, which was designed by Case Study architect Walker. “That restoration happened and everyone in the preservation community was thrilled,” designer Mimnaugh told the paper. “Unfortunately, I couldn’t sell it.”* UPDATE: And then even more renovation, and an eventual sale, happened (see George's comments below). And we wrote about this home in 2006, when it was listed at $1.499 million. A two-bedroom, two-bath home, it's back on the market at $1.299 million. More: "A museum-quality renovation by George Mimnaugh of a Rodney Walker design. A soothing, zen-like space which occupies a flat lot w/ spectacular views of the Silver Lake Reservoir & hills."
